On Monday, May 12th, I had the great privilege of helping with the presentation of 100 bags filled with exciting art supplies to some of our community’s finest young artists! The Celebration of Arts was held at the Cave Creek Unified School District’s Fine Arts Center in Scottsdale. As a former art educator and young artist, I know that recognition for creativity, artistic skills, and perseverance can make a difference in a young person’s life. The Sonoran Arts League provides the funds for the supplies from Hidden in the Hills fees because our mission statement says, “To give to our community by promoting art, artists, and art education through leadership and service in the belief that artistic awareness is essential to the well-being of life and our community.”
If our young artists are encouraged to do their artwork and receive recognition, our community and their lives will be richer. We are fortunate to continue having art classes in the Cave Creek Unified School District. We hope that these life-changing classes will not be taken away.

The supplies included a set of 12 acrylic paints, a palette knife, a sponge, brushes, canvas, pencils, a drawing set with 2H, HB, 2B, layout pencils, and an eraser. A pencil sharpener and small sketch book with heavy paper, a disposable apron and gloves (to get the idea of wearing gloves on art projects and purchased as a safety measure), a set of oil pastels, and two model magic sculpture materials that dry hard overnight and can be painted are also included. The bags also provide information about the Sonoran Arts League Studio Classes and the League itself.

Cave Creek, Carefree, North Phoenix, and Scottsdale are fortunate to have such strong arts communities served by the Sonoran Arts League, a 501 (c) (3), nonprofit, volunteer-based arts service organization dedicated to actively advancing art, artists, and art education. So, please join us and “Be a Part of the Arts” because “You Gotta Have Art!”
