From preparing and maintaining official Town documentation, drafting agendas and bylaws for the Town Council, recording minutes of council meetings, fulfilling Freedom of Information Act requests, and preparing reports, the Town Clerk is the backbone of local government operations. This overview of job duties is just some of the responsibilities the Town of Cave Creek’s Town Clerk, Teresa Riza, performs, and so much more behind the scenes. Riza is one of seven Arizona municipal clerks named to the 2025 Municipal Clerks Honor Roll.
Since joining Cave Creek in 2007, Riza has worn many hats, including the role of Deputy Town Manager, which she currently holds alongside her clerking duties.
The Municipal Clerks Honor Roll is celebrating its 25th year of recognition to coincide with Municipal Clerks Week, which is May 4-10 each year. This year, more than 300 individuals, from 33 states, received nominations.
