CAVE CREEK DARK SKY will host their annual FREE Star Gazing Party Event on Saturday, October 26th, 2024 at the Spur Cross Recreation Area parking lot from 6:30-8:00PM. Hundreds of people are expected to attend, says founder, Bruce Arlen. There is a TELESCOPE Raffle at $10 per ticket (CASH ONLY).

Mark Johnston, NASA ambassador and astronomy expert, will transmit deep space images in real time onto four large monitor screens using his powerful telescope. Stuart Brackney, President of the Phoenix Astronomical Society will speak. You will see galaxies, constellations, nebula, star clusters and Saturn with her rings. You will learn incredible and fascinating facts. There were 600 people at last years “Outdoor Planetarium” show.

Cave Creek Dark Sky (CCDS) promotes a quality-of-life philosophy by embracing the dark night sky, utilizing education and information to teach how to reduce light pollution. Light pollution obscures the stars. “By shielding our lights and turning them off when not needed”, Arlen says, “we help keep the sky dark and stars visible for all”.

CCDS is working towards helping the Town of Cave Creek, its residents, and businesses to become an official Dark Sky Community through events like this one.

To attend, email your RSVP to: [email protected] and receive detailed instructions. CCDS asks everyone to arrive before 5:45pm for best seating positions.

Parking Directed by Attendants + Carpooling encouraged.
