I wanted to advocate for Colleen Rose-Scurti for Town Council. She wants to preserve our small, rural town, its values and its charm. Biggest priorities for her will be to keep our residents and neighborhoods safe. She has 30 years’ experience in real estate, development and executive leadership. I have seen her attend town council, budget, P & Z and EDAB meetings. She reads all the underlying documents to more fully understand the issues. We need a representative like that!
She knows there are 4 major issues facing Carefree and are making sure our businesses in town are successful as 62% of our income comes from sales tax revenues is a big one. Secondly, water is always a concern in AZ. We may see our CAP water reduced due to reduction in the Colorado River and demands from CA whose water rights are superior to AZ’s junior rights and so having a third source of water is critical for Carefree.
She wants to tackle the third issue of safety, on multiple levels. First our streets and traffic, we need stoplights or other flow controls for the intersections of Pima / Cave Creek and Pima / Stagecoach as we have had several accidents, including some tragic fatalities. Next, we need to be Fire safe. She supports Rural Metro’s FireWise project to help residents know how to keep their homes and surrounding area more resistant to fire. Another is crime as we are seeing an increase in crime all over the country, Arizona and even our local community. She would like to work with safety officials to help educate our community in efforts to protect ourselves.
To help with these issues solutions sharing and getting word out on the General Plan which is on the November ballot, she is advocating for Monthly or Every other Month Town Hall in the Pavilion. The Carefree GP is a vision for the next 10 years and there are a lot of good things put into the plan that would be beneficial for the town.
