On May 6, Ms. Linda Wright, President of Kiwanis of Carefree, welcomed students, families, friends, and Kiwanians to the “Evening of Excellence” Scholarship Awards Program. This keystone event awarded 30 scholarships, totaling $564,000 to graduating students from the Carefree and Cave Creek area. This program was chaired by Ms. Janet Busbee of the Scholarship Committee who congratulated the Awardees as she read their names. The scholarship categories were: four-year awards, two-year awards to community colleges, technical and trade schools, and merit Scholarships.
As the Awardees crossed the stage, their accomplishments were read along with which college they had selected; and a photo with their name and college was projected on a large screen as they were receiving their awards from the Scholarship Committee.
Mr. Ryan Harris, NFL Veteran and Superbowl Champion was the Keynote Speaker who inspired everyone with a powerful and dynamic motivational speech.
