The Town of Carefree is excited to announce the return of its Annual Earth Day Celebration, scheduled for Saturday, April 20, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sanderson Lincoln Pavilion. This family-friendly event promises a day of fun and learning as we gather to celebrate our planet and promote environmental and wildlife awareness.
This event is made possible through a collaborative effort with passionate organizations and community partners. Attendees can immerse themselves in several exciting activities and attractions, including:
- Up-Close Wildlife Encounters: Get up close and personal with Arizona’s native wildlife, including rattlesnakes and Gila monsters from Rattlesnake Solutions, as well as hawks, owls, and more from Wild At Heart Raptors. Learn about their habitats, behaviors, and the importance of conservation efforts to protect these remarkable creatures.
- Meet Smokey Bear: Don’t miss the opportunity to meet Smokey Bear, the iconic symbol of wildfire prevention! Capture a selfie with Smokey, explore the Tonto National Forest service truck, and gain valuable insights into fire safety and forest preservation from the USDA Forest Service booth.
- Cool Treats: Beat the Arizona heat with delicious snow cones from the Kona Ice truck as you explore the various booths and attractions.
- Interactive Learning: Engage with local organizations dedicated to nature conservation and appreciation. Learn about Carefree Park’s land preservation efforts, explore the desert ecosystem with the Desert Foothills Land Trust’s animal quiz show game and touchable items like saguaro boots. Discover fun facts about water conservation and usage from the Carefree Water Company prize wheel and showcase your love for Earth Day with face painting at the Maricopa County booth.
- Musical Performances: Enjoy live performances by talented musicians from Jubilate Conservatory of Music, adding a melodic touch to the festivities from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Make sure to participate in their raffle drawing for the chance to win awesome prizes.
- Electric Vehicle Showcase: Step into the future of transportation with the Valley of the Sun Electric Vehicle Association and Sanderson Lincoln, who will showcase several electric and hybrid vehicles while raising awareness about their environmental benefits.
