True to form, the clueless Carefree Town Council ignored the sentiment of the majority yet again by refusing to appoint a qualified candidate from the winning side of the recent property tax vote.
The level of hubris demonstrated by this town council is truly stupefying! They didn’t learn from the ridiculous and unnecessary $35M water project debacle that only benefited 20% of the community. They didn’t learn from the unsightly, light-polluting Hampton Inn they approved. And they didn’t learn anything after getting their butts kicked 80% vs 20% on the recent property tax scheme that they foolishly initiated.
During the July 11 council meeting, Vice Mayor Kroyer had the audacity to again brazenly claim that the council was neutral about the property tax proposal. She was immediately challenged by residents who have had enough of this bald-faced town council lie! Lacking class and decorum, Councilman D’Aliesio was on the verge of yet another tantrum when a Vote No candidate went slightly over his 2-minute allotted comment time. Interesting that the councilman was silent a few months ago when a Rural Metro fire chief groveled on for almost 10 minutes in public comments bolstering the council’s Vote Yes property tax position.
Feigning objectiveness, Councilwoman Amoroso disingenuously stated she didn’t ask candidates how they voted on the property tax proposal knowing full well every candidate who volunteered at the Vote No table at the post office. And Councilman Hatcher, initially nominated a candidate representing the Vote No majority, but quickly tucked tail and changed his vote upon the first challenge (so much for genuine conviction).
The Carefree Town Council squandered this opportunity to demonstrate that they listened. Carefree residents deserved a candidate who not only represented the sentiment of the 80% majority, but who would also challenge the council’s failing groupthink dynamics.
