Kicking off the festivities was the Town’s annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, “Carefree Lights Up”, on Saturday, December 3rd. Guests were entertained by the Cactus Kickers, Desert Hills Presbyterian Church Carolers and Bell Ringers, along with local music talent, Kevin Glenn.
On December 15, Carefree Art Galleries come to life for Third Thursdays Art Walk. With 15 different galleries featuring unique art pieces, live demonstrations, artist lectures, and more. Begin at any gallery and stroll at your leisure, enjoying an evening of art, music, and culture. Live performances in Sanderson Lincoln Pavilion round out the experience for an evening to remember.

Celebrating its sixth year, Chanukah in Carefree brings the community together in celebration of the Festival of Lights. Featuring eight nights of themed activities, local Jewish organizations will take turns hosting the evening festivities and lighting the 6.5-foot-tall menorah in the Sanderson Lincoln Pavilion.
In addition to the holiday celebration, Chanukah in Carefree welcomes all to join in the ‘Spirit of Giving’ to those in need. This year’s selected charity is Foothills Caring Corps. Hosted among the Desert Gardens within the Sanderson Lincoln Pavilion, guests will enjoy music, food, drinks, raffles, and good company.

Dec. 18-25 – Chanukah in Carefree Nightly Menorah Lighting
With the start of Chanukah on Dec. 18, there will be eight fun-filled nights of Menorah lighting at the Sanderson Lincoln Pavilion in Carefree. These eight Menorah lighting events will begin at 5:30 p.m. every evening. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend. The lighting will be led by a different community group or family each night. Gift bags will be available for children every evening as well as chocolate Chanukah gelt for all. Live streaming will be available each evening.
On Tuesday, Dec. 20, there will be a special “Valley of the Sun JCC Family Night.” Families are invited to attend and enjoy lots of wonderful Chanukah games, arts & crafts, storytelling, songs, and more. Both members and non-members of the Valley of the Sun JCC in Scottsdale are invited to attend.
