On April 2, SkyRanch at Carefree hosted its 60th Anniversary Open House and the Carefree Classic Wheels and Wings Show. More than 5,000 people streamed through the airport gates on a beautiful Arizona spring day to admire the airplanes and classic cars on display.
The show was free to the public, as was the parking. Visitors enjoyed viewing the planes and cars, talking to their owners, and watching the amazing radio-controlled model planes flying above the runway.
When all the bills were paid, the show organizers were able to donate $7,348 to Foothills Caring Corps, to help it continue its mission of assisting the elderly and infirm in the foothills communities.
