The regularly scheduled meeting of the Cave Creek Town Council on Monday night (June 1) gave way to both physical and emotional exhaustion as almost all parties were involved in the weekend events caused by the Ocotillo fire.
An early summary of the details related to the fire consistently heaped praise on the speedy evacuations, first responders and volunteers, both locally and most notably, from all over the state. Supplies, livestock trailers and accomodations were abundant and activity was 24/7.
Reports have indicated that structures (including homes) and vehicles were lost in the blaze.

Town to provide dumpsters
CAVE CREEK – The Town of Cave Creek will be providing dumpsters for evacuated residents who will be returning to their homes.
The dumpsters will be placed at the intersections of Yucca and Spur Cross roads and Cahava Ranch and Spur Cross roads. They will be available Tuesday, June 2, and picked up for removal on the afternoon of Friday, June 5.
“The Town realizes that residents will likely have food spoilage due to the power outage in the evacuation area, and this gives them an opportunity to dispose of it quickly,” said Cave Creek’s Chief Building and Fire Official, Michael Baxley.
The Town requests that residents do not use the dumpsters for large appliances or construction refuse, and to not place any trash on the ground if the receptacle is full. Town staff will be monitoring the levels of the dumpsters throughout the day.
