The Sonoran Arts League acknowledges concerns regarding the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) and its potential impacts on our communities.
We are continuing to monitor the virus with a focus on how we can best prepare and support our members and the community we serve as we face these challenges together.
Keeping our members, volunteers, Board, staff and our visitors safe is a top priority, so we wanted to share the steps we’re taking in response to coronavirus. With help from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as the Alliance of Arizona Non-Profits and other key community & health resources, we’re developing preventative measures to maintain a clean, healthy environment in our facilities (the Center for the Arts, the Gallery at el Pedregal and the Workshop Space).
At this time, we plan to remain open and move forward with our upcoming events, activities and workshops; and will continue to monitor what public health officials are communicating. However, to mitigate community spread, we are doing the following:
First and foremost we have ramped up cleaning efforts. Facilities are cleaned daily, with sanitizing solutions used in high-touch, high-traffic areas. We also have staff and volunteers dedicated to cleaning key areas throughout the day.
Second, we ask if who aren’t feeling well to refrain from coming in.
In an effort to stop the spread of illnesses, the CDC recommends that all sick employees (members and volunteers) refrain from coming in. Staff members and volunteers are also instructed to follow healthy habits and show others to do the same:
1. Wash hands frequently and follow proper handwashing techniques as outlined by the CDC, https://www.cdc.gov/handwashing/when-how-handwashing.html
2. Cover cough or sneeze with sleeve or elbow
3. Use a tissue, discard immediately and wash hands.
4. Avoid touching eyes, nose & mouth
5. Avoid people who are sick
6. Disinfect frequently touched surfaces
As always, we’re grateful for the opportunity to serve our members and our community. Rest assured, we’re doing everything in our power to provide a safe experience for all who visit the Sonoran Arts League.
At this time, it has been recommended that we do not close our facilities. In situations like these, rumors may cause unnecessary reactions and panic; therefore, we encourage you to get information from credible sources.
Sincerely,
Patty Bell-Demers
