Come enjoy an evening of classical music on Thursday, March 5th, at 7:00 PM. Winner of the prestigious CMA Cleveland Quartet Award, Philadelphia’s Jasper String Quartet have been hailed as “sonically delightful and expressively compelling” (The Strad) and their album, Unbound, was named as one of the 25 Best Classical Recordings of 2017 by the New York Times. The Jaspers perform pieces emotionally significant to its members. They will be playing selections from Mendelssohn Op. 44 No. 1, Smetana Quartet No. 1 “From my life”, and Four Seasons for String Quartet, as well as other classical selections.
Formed at Oberlin Conservatory, the Jaspers began pursuing a professional career in 2006 while studying with James Dunham, Norman Fischer, and Kenneth Goldsmith as Rice University’s Graduate Quartet-in-Residence. In 2008, the quartet continued its training with the Tokyo String Quartet as Yale University’s Graduate Quartet-in-Residence. The Jasper String Quartet is named after Jasper National Park in Alberta, Canada. They have spent a decade performing premier works old and new at top concert halls around the world. The concert is free and all are welcome. DHPC holds Sunday traditional services at 8:15 and 9:45 AM and contemporary service at 11:10 AM.
