Arizona achieves first structural balance in a decade

Government can’t spend money it doesn’t have.

The budget signed this year by Governor Ducey brings Arizona to a $61 million positive structural balance by the end of fiscal year 2017, and protects our state’s most important priorities, without raising taxes.

  • The budget provides new dollars for K-12 education, universities, care for veterans, and the state’s transportation system, while eliminating the state’s structural deficit, and protecting the state’s rainy day fund.
  • In total, overall spending growth is less than 1.2% percent – which is below population and inflation growth rate.
  • Over 58% of the new 2017 investments are one-time, further contributing to Arizona’s long-term financial stability.

Arizona is paying its bills and investing in the services that matter most to our citizens.
