For three weeks during July, the Service Ministry Team and Congregation members of Desert Foothills Lutheran Church in Scottsdale collected microwavable and non-perishable foods to help feed our homeless Veterans living in downtown Phoenix. These men and women fought gallantly for our country and now find themselves with no home nor family.
Everyone helped in some way. Some brought food, others donated money. Some even took the challenge to work and returned with bags of food. In total 165 pounds of food and $450 was collected.
The money collected will be put toward the purchase of a new refrigerator for the Veterans Outreach Center. This will enable the center to keep dairy items such as milk, butter and jelly.
Hunger is an ongoing concern. Desert Foothills Lutheran Church is doing its part to help overcome this difficulty.
