A recent letter to the editor entitled “CAREFREE PARK” should have more aptly been named “Pickleball Courts in Carefree?”
To avoid any confusion, Carefree Park is the name of a grassroots 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with the mission of acquiring the 48-acre parcel of Arizona State Trust land, preserving and making it accessible to residents and visitors, with minimal impact to the landscape. This is the last remaining accessible large parcel of beautiful natural Sonoran Desert in Carefree. It is home to hundreds of old growth saguaros. It is a wildlife habitat and corridor. And the Stoneman Road Military Trail Segment which transects the land has been listed with the National Register of Historic Place. Carefree Park is seeking donations and pledges to support our mission. (www.carefreepark.org)
