Elias Matthews, familiar to FHT audiences for his star turn as Eugene Jerome in all three of Neil Simon’s autobiographical plays, Brighton Beach Memoirs, Biloxi Blues and Broadway Bound has joined the staff as the theater’s new Technical Director.
Matthews, 23, says he’s already learning the ins-and-outs of the role from local legends Ross Collins and Peter Hill.
He is an actor who has performed on stages all over the valley, including Fountain Hills Theater. He was nominated for an AriZoni Award for his portrayal of Christopher in Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime at FHT. He has also appeared in productions at The Phoenix Theater Company, Theatre Artists Studio, Queen Creek Performing Arts Center, and Entertainers’ Theatre Collective.
Matthews is also the co-founder of Valley Players, a theater company based in Scottsdale, that focuses on producing contemporary and modern shows.
