It’s in the air

On Thursday, February 6th we had a helicopter fly alarming low over our home early in the morning and thought it was a police or medical flight.  Lo and behold it continued another 20+ times.

After some investigation, we found that someone at the school had approved the landing and takeoff of a charter helicopter service from the school parking lot (the school is getting paid for it) as an “experience” for a select few Phoenix Open patrons and it was to continue through the weekend.

What is a convenience for a select few is a disturbance to the nearby neighbors, a disruption of sports activities and a hazard to many as they fly dangerously low over a populated area and around power lines. The Sky Ranch Airport in Carefree would have been a more appropriate location for this.

If you were affected by this, we encourage you to file a complaint with the FAA and send your thoughts to the CCUSD governing board and superintendent to prevent future events like this from happening.  Help keep Cave Creek peaceful and safe.
