My 8 tips on how to get the best results from your regenerative therapy treatments

Dr Leisa

Every day, patients ask me what percentage recovery they will have once receiving regenerative treatments. My answer, is, “It depends.” Of course, how you treat your body, what you eat and drink, and your lifestyle plays a very important role in your outcome. We find that the average patient who visits us has tried as many as 12-18 methods of treatment before coming to my office. Getting the best out of regenerative therapies, such as HCTP, (stem cell treatments), PRP (platelet-rich plasma), ozone therapy, or other regenerative methods, requires a combination of careful planning, preparation, and follow-through. Here are how we maximize your benefits in my office:

  1. Consult with an experienced practitioner
Choose a reputable clinic or specialist with experience in the specific therapy you’re considering. It’s crucial that they have a proven track record with real patient testimonials and use evidence-based methods. We have patients who are willing to speak with new patients to share their results from our clinic. It cannot be emphasized enough that you go to someone who stays current on the changes in this field. There are protocols that we are using now that were unheard of even last year at this time. More research is being done and the field is changing for the better quite rapidly. I hire only experienced injectors, and I attend at least 3 regenerative conferences a year. A major issue I see with patients who have received regenerative therapies like PRP, have not been told that patients over 55 have a much less chance of positive results, as we just do not have enough of our own regenerative cells to grow new tissue. It’s a shame when the doctor does not tell the patient that, and then the patient is disappointed with their results. We combine PRP with other therapies to make it work to its best potential for the patient.
Be honest about your health history, lifestyle, and expectations. This will help us customize a treatment plan tailored to your needs. Yes, we will help your condition, but we need your honesty and details.
  2. Set realistic expectations
Know that regenerative therapies typically take time to show results. Unless you’ve had an accident, it did not happen overnight, so it will not heal overnight. Unlike some conventional treatments that provide instant relief, regenerative treatments stimulate healing, which can take weeks or even months to see the full benefit.
Keep in mind that not every individual will respond the same way to these therapies. Each patient has their own condition and lifestyle.
  3. Follow pre-treatment instructions.
Before undergoing regenerative therapy, some treatments may require specific preparations, such as dietary adjustments, stopping certain medications, or refraining from alcohol and smoking for a while. I can go on a trip with you to Costco or other markets to help you make better choices of foods you love without adding inflammatory foods to your diet prior to your HCT treatment in our office. This helps you to decrease systemic inflammation that may cause your cells to be lost in other areas in your body other than where you want the most regeneration. This is yet another step for us to go above and beyond to help you get the best results possible.
Follow your healthcare provider’s instructions carefully to ensure the best possible outcome.
  4. Stay consistent with aftercare
Adhere to post-treatment protocols. For a few days, this may include rest, avoiding strain in the treated area, hot baths or hot tubs, or other care guidelines designed to support your recovery.
Many therapies, such as PRP or stem cell injections, work best when combined with certain exercises or therapies.
  5. Maintain a healthy lifestyle
Eat a balanced diet, exercise regularly (as permitted), and stay hydrated to support your body’s natural healing process. I will walk you through this easy process.
  6. Patience is Key
Results from regenerative therapies can sometimes take time to manifest, and multiple sessions may be required. Ensure you’re prepared for a gradual process rather than expecting immediate results.
Keep track of your progress and communicate any concerns with your practitioner.
  7. Integrate Complementary Therapies
Sometimes, regenerative treatments are most effective when combined with other supportive therapies such as chiropractic care, acupuncture and nutritional guidance, as mentioned above. These can help enhance the healing process and improve long-term results.
  8. Follow Up Regularly
Schedule follow-up appointments with your practitioner to monitor your progress. These check-ins allow us to assess your healing and decide if any adjustments are needed to your treatment plan.
By approaching regenerative therapies with a holistic mindset—blending professional care, proper aftercare, and a healthy lifestyle—you can increase the likelihood of achieving optimal results.
