Philip George Loignon, commonly known as Phil, was born in Biddeford, Maine on May 30, 1937- the Real Memorial Day as he would be proud to say- to parents Gabriel Urbain and Ferne Elizabeth Stevens Loignon. Phil is predeceased by his parents and his brother Steven and is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Carol Ann Tigh Loignon, his children Carol (husband Hossein Talebi), Brenda, and David (wife Julie) as well as his grandchildren Alexander (wife Olivia), Nicholas (wife Marina Birch) and Madeline.
Phil graduated with the class of 1955 from St. Louis High School in Biddeford, Maine, spent 26 years and 8 months in the US Air Force where he started as an enlisted man, trained in the Cadet program, was a Navigator/Bombardier in B-47 Aircraft, and Systems Reconnaissance Officer in the SR-71. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Omaha (now University of Nebraska at Omaha) and a Master’s Degree in Logistics from the Armed Forces Industrial College. Base assignments included Lincoln AFB, NE where he became a diehard fan of Nebraska Football, Beale AFB, CA where the SR-71 was located and later met his wife, Carol. Between the two assignments at Beale AFB, he spent a year in Thailand. Offutt AFB, NE home of Strategic Air Command Headquarters was his last assignment where he retired in 1981.
Following the Air Force, he became a Certified Financial Planner with USPA and IRA which is now First Command Financial Services in Fort Worth, TX and retired after 20 years of service.
He was an avid golfer from his teen years in Maine through 2022 when Parkinson’s Disease changed his life. He has lived in the Carefree/ Cave Creek area since March of 2003.
