Feature: Art

As we approach the holiday season, in whatever way you celebrate, do remember, “YOU GOTTA HAVE ART!”  In this age of mass production what could be more treasured, exciting and thoughtful than an original work of art!  I found this list of very compelling reasons to gift a piece of art several years ago.  I do not remember the source, but it is so vital that I thought I would share it in this column!  I have added a few!
 1.     Buy art because you can!
2.     Buy art because you like it!
3.     Save and stretch to buy art to participate in the culture of our time—of the NOW!
4.     Buy art as an heirloom for family!
5.     Buy art to thrill yourself or when a piece of art makes you think!  Or cry!
6.     Buy art when nothing else makes sense.
7.     Buy art because you are an adult and need original art in your life!
8.     Buy art to show your kids that money is not the most important thing in your life!
9.     Buy art because the art world is an exciting thing to be a part of!
10.  Buy art to impress friends, parents, family, mates, and colleagues.
11.  Buy art to make you smile!
12.  Buy art to shine up a boring area in your home!
13.  Buy art to support local artists who make the world a more exciting place to inhabit and to make our darkest days more bearable! That is priceless!  Seriously!

“You Gotta Have Art!”

Where can you buy original art? If you took a card or have your directory from Hidden in the Hills, call the artist whose work really resonated with you, and ask to buy your favorite piece.

The Sonoran Arts League and the Desert Foothills Gallery both have shows with art for sale!  The folks at the library and at the Gallery will be happy to help you!

Many local artists have websites where you can contact them!  Again, don’t hesitate, the artist will be thrilled!
Happy shopping! And do remember!  “You Gotta Have Art!”
