Sonoran Arts League’s Hidden in the Hills returns for 28th year

Arizona’s largest and longest-running artist studio tour, Hidden in the Hills, will take place during the last two weekends of November: Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 22, 23 & 24 and Nov. 29, 30 & Dec. 1. Coordinated by the nonprofit Sonoran Arts League, this year’s free, self-guided tour features 179 artists at 44 studios throughout Cave Creek, Carefree and North Scottsdale.

Now in its 28th year, the inspirational event attracts thousands of patrons who appreciate fine art and seek a variety of mediums, styles and price ranges.

The art tour also attracts holiday shoppers who want to find original, unique gifts. Each artist’s studio is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. during both weekends of the tour, giving patrons plenty of time to visit multiple studios.

Some guests like to visit studios based on the genre of art they are attracted to. Others may choose studios based on a certain style, such as contemporary or western. It’s also fun to get a group of friends together and meander through the tour, stopping randomly at studios along the way.

While artists will be showcasing and selling diverse pieces of art, many participating artists have voluntarily contributed one piece of art that will be labeled “Art from the Heart.” When sold, the artists will donate 100% of the proceeds for this one piece to the Sonoran Arts League.

Planning your tour is easy. Visit www.HiddenInTheHills.org to download a map or get Google directions. During the tour, look for the yellow Hidden in the Hills signs on the side of the main roads, such as Scottsdale Road, Cave Creek Road, Carefree Highway and other main arteries.

These signs will direct you into the neighborhoods where you will find more signage that will help you discover each artist’s studio.
