After months of community involvement and vigorous debate, the Carefree Town Council voted unanimously to accept the recommendations of the resident driven 2024 Carefree General Plan Update
All stakeholders shared a common vision: to preserve the Sonoran Desert landscape where man-made architecture will respect and work in harmony with the natural environment as well as ensure economic sustainability. In addition to responsible stewardship of the desert landscape and economic viability, the updated General Plan creates new and creative opportunities for meaningful resident engagement in all future proposed economic development.
Specifically, the General Plan Update addresses the northeast corner of Carefree Highway and Cave Creek Road and the Town Center as economic development priorities. Although the General Plan allows for a potential low-profile casita style resort on the northwest corner of Carefree Highway and Tom Darlington Road, the Plan calls for a long list of safeguards to protect key concerns of residents.
Specifically, the General Plan Update includes the formation of the Development Stakeholder Advisory Committee to provide citizen guidance and education on the development of the northwest corner property.
Specifically, the General Plan Update – Sharpens the Town’s focus on Open Space and calls for the formation of an Open Space Stakeholder Advisory Committee.
Specifically, the General Plan Update Mandates an increased focus on water resource management.
Your vote is crucial to ensure this resident-driven General Plan Update will help guide future leaders and residents who will come after all of us who participated in this momentous commitment to preserve the unique character of our Town.
Please Vote YES in support of the proposed 2024 General Plan Update.
