John W. Askvig, a longtime resident of Cave Creek, Arizona, passed away peacefully September 16, 2024, with his good friend Randy Folts by his side.
In 1966, John enlisted in the Air Force and served honorably in Turkey during his deployment.
John was born in Rochelle, IL, and relocated to Arizona in 1981, where he owned a computer consulting and software company.
He loved the beauty and peaceful area of Cave Creek and loved spending his days working on his Harley, creating new ideas and inventions and spent his final days enjoying the successful life he had built.
John, to all who knew him in Cave Creek, was a devout Harley fan and a former member of the local H.O.G. (Harley Owners Group).
John was an avid reader interested in all things. His search for knowledge led him to create several products related to alternative energy and was given a National Grant from President Carter for his work.
His sense of humor always present and he rarely was in a bad mood but never missing an opportunity to engage in any topic of the moment and offer his “expert” advice on the matter, commencing with…” Here’s The Deal!”
He enjoyed life and lived each day as a down-to-earth, direct and a no-nonsense guy.
He will be missed by the people in his life and his time on earth was a benefit to all who came his way.
A special thank you to the staff at the Enclave at Anthem Memory Care Facility and Hospice for their unbelievable care and concern for our friend, John in his final days.
A private service TBD honoring his life will be held.
