CAREFREE – You get HUGS and notes that say “We love you!” at the Heritage at Carefree Retirement Living, Nona Hudspeth shared, after she took a late-night tumble. “They took wonderful care of me,” post-fall, that was caused by a bit of vertigo, she explained.
Born in Mississippi and calling Texas home, Hudspeth ended up in Arizona following a stroke. Her daughter, who lives in Terravita, was advised by her brother-in-law that the Heritage was “just the place for Nona.” Having lived in many cities and states, Hudspeth said, “This is the prettiest place I’ve been” about Carefree.
Aside from the enjoyment she gets from its beauty, Hudspeth keeps plenty busy. “I was at exercise this morning, then I went right to lunch.” She’s called Heritage home for about a year and a half. “There are so many activities. We go to a different place for lunch every week. Next week is El Encanto. There’s often four or five of us. They went to the movies to see Reagan yesterday. We have music and one brave girl from Ukraine came in and played the violin.
The music is wonderful! They play BINGO a lot.”
Hudspeth appreciates that the Heritage is family owned and operated by Donna and Marin Holbura. “I do like it! I love my apartment. I can’t think of any improvement that can be done,” she admitted. “Everyone is so good about helping. Even in the kitchen, if you want a sandwich, they’ll make you a sandwich.”
