Time for new blood

It’s a sad state of affairs to watch some in Carefree continue to try to run Carefree in the “Boss Hog” cronyism style of politics with a country club group think mentality. It’s time for new blood that approaches issues with discussion, debate and independent voting without first considering their own personal interests.

Times have changed and Carefree residents are no longer asleep. We are involved, have opinions and take the time to attend various town meetings. It’s time to have a town council that embraces and partners with residents and embraces differing views instead of reacting with disdain, resistance and lack of tolerance.

It’s time for those that have retired from elected and appointed positions and their friends to recognize that they are no longer in power. During this campaign season, we have seen some of those same individuals fabricating untruths, twisting words, attempts at intimidation and downright personal attacks to those new candidates running for town council. This behavior has no place in our community.

Everyone deserves to be treated with respect. Residents and candidates alike no matter our backgrounds and opinions. Let’s start with fresh blood on our town council. We can begin by electing town council candidates like Diane Roth and Lon Johnson. One incumbent running for re-election, Steve Hatcher, does treat residents with respect and an open mind and does deserve consideration as well.

DISCERN & VOTE WISELY
