Setting the record straight

Mr.Oelman’s  letter contained many inaccuracies about me. He did not correctly state the facts about my tenure on the Boulders HOA Board. One I was appointed to fill out a term when several board members just quit. Two during  the time I served, I was co-chair of the security committee, this committee was tasked with reviewing our contract with AAA while  interviewing three other security firms as possible replacements. We also discussed with the Maricopa County Sheriff what they saw as professionals the Boulder’s security needs. These talks allowed us to negotiate a new contract with AAA that resulted in a zero dollar increase on their upcoming yearly contract.  It also led to  AAA  correcting some of their potential weaknesses. Given how successful we were I ran on that platform when it came time for the new board election.   While the new board election was happening, the current HOA board that I was a member turned down the offer of $20,000 from the town of Carefree for a three-quarter of an acre lot valued at $500,000. I believe anyone would and should consider that I was exercising my fiduciary responsibility for the residents of the Boulders.

Mr. Oelman  also gets his facts about me wrong when he states that I said our town staff should be fired.  In fact,  Mr. Oelman asked me that very question in front of several Carefree residents while I was at the PO campaigning to be your next council member.  My reply was that staff should be reviewed yearly. Mr. Oleman and I discussed being a business owner. To run a successful business one aspect of profitable bottom line results is to review employees on a yearly basis.  As a business owner you don’t keep people on who weren’t justifying their salary.  I’m extremely disappointed he twisted that exchange and says I was telling residents I wanted the Carefree staff fired.

Yes, I do want our town council held accountable just like any elected body should be. They are expected to represent the will of the people to run a successful town like Carefree.  Our community is full of well educated electorates who invested many hours learning what we want and what should be in our General Plan as this document guides us through the next 10 years as Carefree residents.

If Doing all that makes me temperamental then I’ll take those words as a compliment.
