“Power tends to corrupt”

While a town council seat in a small town of 3700 is rather insignificant, in the wrong hands, it can be abused with devastating consequences.

Our vote for new council members on July 30 will have consequences for Carefree’s future. We can continue with the status quo – more Hampton Inns and fear campaigns that attempt to coerce residents into supporting a property tax. Or, we can vote for new people that will put us on a path that is more aligned with what residents envision Carefree’s future should look like.

I am voting for Lon Johnson, Diane Roth and Nakisa Azizi. They have demonstrated a willingness to represent residents and the steady disposition required to calmly navigate the inevitable challenges that come with the office. They have not allowed National Politics to interfere with local non-partisan government activities nor have they accepted donations from a Real Estate PAC, or any other PAC for that matter.

Nakisa is relatively new to Carefree so I took the time to speak with her before making my decision. I discovered she is an Arizona native, and a highly intelligent and principled woman with a balanced ego. She is a plaintiff’s attorney experienced in representing the little guy. She will advocate for Carefree residents understanding her own self-interests should never drive her decisions. Her newness to Carefree brings with it a refreshing lack of prejudice, enabling her to evaluate the issues without bias. I am voting for her because I believe she can grow into becoming a strong and well-informed leader for Carefree.

Our vote for Carefree’s Town Council this July 30 matters. VOTE SMART!
