A recent article submitted to Sonoran News by Vice Mayor Katherine Royer would have us believe pressure on the Upper Basin States should have them reduce their Colorado River Water allocation.
A little water history helps, understanding the serious drought conditions Upper Basin States are also in at; https://www.nature.com/articles/s43247-024-01291-0.
Couple this with AZ as one of the fastest growing states that keeps soliciting growth makes it easier to understand why Upper Basin States are not eager participants in water allocation reductions while in their own serious drought conditions.
The SRP Bartlett Dam Reservoir Expansion with 22 municipal, tribal, and agricultural partners (including CAP), join in securing additional water to water coffers. Noteworthy, Cave Creek fully invested in the water industry is not a partner participant. Instead we chose to put all of our water source ‘eggs’ in one CAP basket. A concerning water future for Cave Creek. Partnering with the SRP Dam Expansion Project would help secure a separate and additional water source, helping secure the water future of Cave Creek. A Cave Creek/Bartlett Dam Reservoir partnership Project Mayoral candidate Jim Grubb supports. Not one where CAP is our sole rate setting water source.
Cave Creek does not need current leadership allowing only the mayor to set and control the agenda.
Cave Creek does not need four year term limits, strongly supported by those who have sat on council the very longest.
Cave Creek does not need constant re-zoning and dissection of our neighborhoods.
Cave Creek does not need to look like Phoenix.
Continuing my support for Councilmembers Dusty Rhoades, Tom Aughterton, Mayoral candidate, Jim Grubb, Candidates Julie Goldammer and Alex Nadesan.
