Litmus test

There’s a very simple litmus test to determine a political candidate’s humility and reasonableness: do they listen to their constituents (or do they ignore them because they know better or have hidden agendas)? The upcoming July election affords Carefree residents an opportunity to vote for candidates who actually listen to them (and not special interest groups). What a concept!

The results of the General Plan survey were historic and unmistakable. A record 350+ residents took time to fill out the survey. Removing the Special Planning Area (SPA) designation from the General Plan was a Top 4 concern (residents understandably do not trust the council that gave us the “boutique” Hampton Inn). And yet, despite an overwhelming majority of residents who want the SPA designation removed, several Town Council candidates still have the audacity to disregard the wishes of the community.

Candidates Diane Roth, Lon Johnson, and Nakisa Azizi have each stated that they will honor the wishes of the community (per the results of the General Plan survey) and vote to remove the SPA from the General Plan. Three candidates are listening. Preserve Carefree’s character and vote for candidates who do not put special interest ahead of residents. Let’s keep Carefree swamp-free!
