Retirees say, ‘This truly is a 5-star place!’

CAREFREE – As the Heritage at Carefree retirement living looks forward to 20 years in 2025, owners Donna and Marin Holbura (standing, middle of photo) appreciate the foundation laid before them that has allowed them such success.
Donna’s parents, Maria and Peter Moldovan, who were American immigrants, opened one of the first care homes in Arizona. Donna was raised in this type of business and she taught compassion and caring to her children. Many may not know, Donna and Marin had two care homes in Paradise Valley. They subsequently sold those and built the Heritage from the ground up.
The whole family is well aware of the import of assuring those at Heritage feel like extended kin. Everyone is greeted by name, and that’s a wonderful benefit to choosing smaller and more intimate. During any time of their retirement lifetime, seniors are welcome to come to the Heritage and stay until the end because the trained staff and various services can accommodate special senescent needs.
It genuinely is a family-run business at Heritage. The Holburas were blessed with four children, all with spouses of their own. Daughter Christina and her husband, Brian Bustamante, are directors at Heritage.
Youngest daughter Ellysse Opris is marketing director.
“The Heritage was and is like my second home. Walking down the halls, I have so many memories of past residents I used to visit and spend time with as a kid. Now, at 25 years old, I can really understand the impact of this business. It is so important to provide the best care to the elderly. And we strive for that as if they were our parents and grandparents.”
Ainsley and brother Michael don’t work at Heritage but they certainly recall as kids doing activities alongside the residents and attending many celebrations throughout the year. “It has been a blessing to our family and it has been our life’s work to be a blessing to others,” the Holburas added.
The Heritage has various levels of care, from independent to assisted living and memory care. They offer several accommodations, from one- or two-bedrooms to a studio efficiency to a spacious suite.
