Jim Grubb announces his candidacy for the office of mayor of Cave Creek

Jim Grubb is running for Cave Creek Mayor to address the issues of water future, preservation of Cave Creek’s natural environment and lifestyle, to solve the traffic, pedestrian and parking problems of downtown, maintain its small town character, and work for neighborhood preservation and a dark skies future.

Jim moved to Cave Creek in 1981 with his wife to build a family. In 1993, he was elected to serve on the Cave Creek Town Council. He helped change Cave Creek’s zoning ordinances from 1 acre per residence, to 2+ acres and 4+ acres per residence. He was part of the Cave Creek annexing of the Spur Cross Ranch property to prevent a high-density golf resort. In 2022, for the Cave Creek election, he hosted the candidate forum at the Library.

Jim has a Master’s Degree in Economics from the University of Arizona. He worked for the State of Arizona Finance Department as a consultant for State Agencies. He was a staff member for the Phoenix City Manager’s Office for eleven years. He conducted management studies and staff communications skills trainings for City Courts, the Prosecutor’s Office, the Phoenix Police and other departments. He worked with the Water and Waste Water Department to draft their Capital Improvement Financial Plan. Jim was a private consultant conducting training in communications and handling difficult people for organizations such as Courts, Airport Security and the Phoenix Police Academy.

Jim will address Cave Creek issues by publishing paid advertisements in the Sonoran News. The first article is called “Cave Creek’s Water Future” and appears on page 3. The second article will be titled “Cave Creek’s Downtown – What Should Be Done?” This is a preview from that article:
“Cave Creek recently updated its Town Core Plan. This plan includes extensive language committing Town Hall to market Cave Creek to be a regional tourist center. These are two quotes from the Plan. “Marketing the Town Core as a regional tourist destination” and “Position the Town as a regional tourist destination center.”

It’s time to ask Cave Creek residents what they want their Town Core to look like and be like. Jim will initiate Focus Groups for Cave Creek residents to listen and learn what they want in their downtown. Results will be published on the town’s website.“
