Attention spans

Hats off to every engaged resident who takes the time to attend Carefree Town Council meetings and participate in Public Comments! It takes courage and a strong sense of civics to stand up and share comments in these public forums. The least that council members can do is give every speaker the simple respect of listening intently with undivided attention. It’s called being present. That a council member would close their eyes and feign being asleep during Public Comments with which they disagree is classless and insulting. Any council member exhibiting such petulant and childish behavior has no business serving on a town council that’s supposed to represent the entire community.

As Abraham Lincoln so aptly stated, “Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power.”
