Cave Creek Museum partners with Hall of Flame for expanded museum learning.
The Cave Creek Museum Phoenix-based Hall of Flame Museum of Firefighting, are partnering to offer visitors the opportunity to visit both interesting museums and receive a discount.
According to Evelyn Johnson, executive director for Cave Creek Museum, the new partnership will showcase each unique local museum so guests can experience even more history as they learn about Cave Creek’s mining history and the Hall’s historical firefighting exhibits.
Along with Cave Creek Museum’s highly attended and popular Arizona Gold Mining Experience, visitors will learn about firefighting through the years.
George F. Getz, Jr. founded the Hall of Flame in 1961. He began to collect fire apparatus after the Christmas 1955 present of a 1924 American LaFrance fire engine from his wife, Olive Atwater Getz. Getz then began to collect apparatus of all types from all over the world.
The Getz family strongly supports the goals of the foundation, which are:
- the collection, preservation and exhibit of objects relating to the history of firefighting
- fire safety education
- the recognition of firefighters who have died in the line of duty or who have been recognized for acts of heroism
Hall of Flame Museum is located at 6101 East Van Buren Street in Phoenix, Ariz., and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 AM to 6 PM. Cave Creek Museum reopens on October 1, 2023.
The 53-year-old Cave Creek Museum’s mission is to preserve the artifacts of the prehistory, history, culture and legacy of the Cave Creek Mining District and the Cave Creek/Carefree foothills area through education, research and interpretive exhibits.
