The Cup

Don Senneville and Jim White

Are revolutions fueled by coffee? Does coffee come from “the center of the earth”, i.e., Columbia?
Why do neuroscientists study coffee? What the heck is the Etymology of Coffee?

Is Firecreek Coffee “Sedonized”? Is the $10 door at ROC2 the path to coffees from around the world? How did coffee get so complicated? Don just needs a Mr. Coffee and a pint of ½ n ½. Here are the short answers to the above questions.

Revolutionary fuel, remember the Boston Tea Party. Coffee from the center of the earth, so what! Neuroscientists study coffee because they are wired! Etymology is the study of coffee. Don and I are both Etymologists. Does “Sedonized” just mean more expensive? The $10 door could be connected to the center of the earth. Like Amazon Prime same day delivery. If you have better answers for these deep questions, please bring them on. Thanks.

Don has returned from weeks in Canada. Jim did not make it to the corner in Winslow. Didn’t sound all that exciting in Canada, but Don did say they have coffee. In Vancouver, like all North American cities, from Juneau to the Panama Canal, there’s a Starbucks on every other corner. But Don says there’s a strong contender or two on the rest of the corners. Is that 50/50, not every corner? When asked what Canadians called an “Americano”, Don said they say “Canadiano”. I don’t believe him. He says he had one (in a cup) at the Crabapple Cafe in Brackendale, BC (near the Squamish River, close to where the actual Jack’s Bar is actually located where the “Virgin River” tv show films). Sounds squeamish and brackish, yikes. It was almost as good as an Americano (to go) at the Village Creperie in Cave Creek! We really just want to know if the new/but old King Charles is on Canadian money yet! No one knows.

After traveling away from our nest, the local “Caffeinated Coffee Mile-Rodeo Drive”, we again understand the value of what we have in our little towns as very special. Friendly, focused, fun and, well, caffeinated. There are still coffee shops to be explored nearby. A trip to The Black Lion Cafe (Holland Center), Grind and Gears Shop (Sundial), and any other macho espresso machine that serves the loyal local coffee comrades every morning. We are staying here this summer to toast the monsoon’s arrival with a good CUP. Any tips on “iced coffee”? A return trip to the Seed Cafe at Civana may yield results. Hope to see you at the counter.
