At the beginning of this year, I traveled to the tropical British Virgin Islands with some of my colleagues for several luxury island experiences with fantastic destination, hotel, and representation partners on the islands. You can’t go wrong visiting this destination, yet winter is a fantastic time to visit as the weather is beautiful, skies and seas are blue, and the weather is comfortable.
Our itinerary included Guana Island, Rosewood Little Dix Bay resort, a day on the private catamaran Mariah Princess III, a villa stay at Oil Nut Bay and Moskito Island, plus a bonus day visit to Necker Island.
This was a true island escape as we were able to experience the beautiful BVI and understand the amazing travel opportunities for all types of families as well as experiences for solos and couples.
Guana Island: This all-inclusive hideaway is spread over 850 acres of pristine nature with whitewashed cottages and villas, ocean views, and Michelin-worthy local and international specialties. I especially enjoyed the laid-back island vibe. We took a tour of the orchard/garden and enjoyed one of seven secluded beaches where guests can enjoy active pursuits like snorkeling and stand-up paddle boards. Hiking is another favorite activity.
Rosewood Little Dix Bay: This tranquil location offers a luxurious slice of tropical life. There are many activities – my favorites were pickle ball, hiking The Baths national park, the picnic lunch beach drop off, and enjoying freshly made ice cream on the beach.
Mariah Princess III: We spent a relaxing “rosé all day” enjoying this 77 foot yacht with its toys and exceptional cuisine. She comes with a full crew and can accommodate 8 guests in 4 cabins.
Oil Nut Bay: We experienced the luxury beach club, marina, wellness center, super cute Nut House kids club, a sushi boat dinner, weekly hosted reception, and amazing villas. It was fun driving our golf carts to visit the rescue barn with retired racehorses and the emus. The gourmet lunch with private chef at one of the beach villas was a perfect way to end our stay.
Moskito Island: Wow! Each of the luxury estates on the island are over the top with multiple, separated accommodations, open air common areas, private chef, and stunning views. And yes, you can rent the Branson Estate.
Necker Island: This is an amazing exclusive use island that supports up to 40 guests. There are lemurs, flamingoes, tortoises, parrots and rabbits on the island. I loved the low-key, toes in the sand feeling with its wild, undisturbed landscape. Guests can enjoy tennis, watersports, outdoor gym and beach activities.
Each of the resorts and islands had a proactive focus on sustainability for the environment and their local communities. Whether it be waking up to a match of pickleball before breakfast or soaking in the peacefulness of a private island, you can’t go wrong with any of these special gems in the British Virgin Islands.
