Do You know your enemy?

Our country is becoming something that is drastically different than what we are accustomed to or want. Cities are breaking all-time records when it comes to violent crimes.

Victimless crimes are still present, but it seems like the majority of crimes are being committed toward other persons. The boldness of criminals or of those who are taking advantage of others has increased to levels never seen before.
I feel for all of those who have been victims of these crimes and I pray for them and their families and friends. I know that it is difficult to put yourself in their shoes and really feel the pain and suffering that they have been through. Young lives are being taken, young innocent lives that haven’t even began experiencing the beauty of life.

Law Enforcement Agencies are being stripped of officers, stripped of much needed funds and made to feel like they are the villains. So many top Prosecutors are not doing their sworn duty and prosecuting criminals to the full extent of the law.

Millions of unknown persons are being released into our country without proper vetting. This creates a long-lasting problem and any person with common sense knows that this will and has brought increased crime to our communities.
So, with this becoming a reality in America, what are we to do about it? Does it really affect you? Should you really be concerned about it? And, if you are, other then establishing your own vigilante group, what can you do about it?
Who is your enemy in all of this? Who do you need to directly defend yourself against, so you don’t become a victim?
I don’t know. That’s the honest truth. I can not name a specific person or group that I need to be on the lookout for in order to be safer, or that I would call my enemy. That doesn’t mean they aren’t out there. My enemies will present themselves at an unknown time and unknown place. I know they are out there, and I know if given the opportunity they will attempt to victimize me in order to gain something for themselves, or possibly for no reason whatsoever like we see on the news almost every day. So, I ask again, who is your enemy?

My enemy comes more in the action or inaction that I do or don’t do every minute of every day. My enemy is my lack of awareness to what is happening in my country, state, community, and neighborhood. My enemy is my lack of knowledge, preparedness, and training that is necessary for me to be prepared for that possible scenario where someone might try to victimize me. My enemy is my lack of situational awareness when I’m out in public places.

You should see where I am going with this. You can be your worst enemy. My biggest enemy can be within me and the only way I can fight that enemy is to prepare myself for anything. I like to be informed of what’s going on near me and afar. If I don’t see a threat rising its ugly head then I will be surprised when faced with it. I train on how to fight off that threat for the day that I might face it, because I do not want to lose that battle. I make sure I have the right equipment necessary to do that and I train with that equipment. I put procedures in place that I can implement daily to lesson the chances of becoming prey to those that are looking to commit crimes. Most importantly, I practice good situational awareness.

Those are just a few of the things that I do to protect myself and those I love, and to be quite honest, even those I don’t know.

But, if I did nothing, I would be doing myself greater harm. Don’t let them get the upper hand, don’t deny the changes we are seeing in crime rates. Prepare yourself, inform yourself and train to protect yourself.

Don’t be your biggest enemy by doing nothing because you will fall prey to them. If you don’t know how or where to start, please contact me.
