CAREFREE – According to resident Linda Lund, the Heritage at Carefree is “like a palace and I feel like a queen or a princess here!” Even though Lund is a fairly new resident, she moved in in June, she can’t praise the retirement living home enough.
She moved from a facility with five rooms where she just wasn’t happy. There, they were fed spaghetti, hot dogs and sandwiches. “If I had to rate, that place would be like a three, and the Heritage would be a ten,” she offered. Some of those points for the Heritage are earned because, “We have a chef!” Residents get three meals a day, and “beautiful desserts come on a tray like in fancy restaurants.”
Lund likes to keep active, so she joins in many of the activities offered. “We got a pool table a week ago,” she added. “I’ve already broken that in.” But there’s also Bingo, followed by trivia (right answers get you chocolates!), Monday is Blackjack and exercise on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Happy hour is a hit with music and drinks and chips or cookies. “They take us out to lunch and to the movies if we want to go,” Lund said.
What has impressed Lund most is the level of care she gets from everyone. “Natalie, the marketing director, took me to get a SIM card so I could use my phone. Everyone is so nice.
It’s a good place and they really take care of us,” she assured.
The Heritage at Carefree remains a gem in the Sonoran Desert, children knowing their parent(s) is/are safe and genuinely cared for, or retirees fully aware they can maintain their freedom while no longer having to worry about the upkeep of a home. Lund interjected, “They do our laundry every Friday.”
The Heritage at Carefree offers three levels of care – independent, assisted living or memory care – and various accommodations – studios, one- and two-bedrooms and suites (see floorplans at heritagecarefree.com). Owner Donna Holbura and her family invite those interested to request a guided tour at 480-488-1622. The Heritage is located at 36590 N Pima Rd #3481.
