The Cave Creek Unified School District Governing Board approved James Swetter as interim principal at Cactus Shadows High School at their June 25 meeting. Swetter will officially take the reins on July 1. He has been serving as Assistant Principal for Operations and Resources and Athletic Director at Cactus Shadows. He has been part of CSHS since 2011 serving first as a social studies teacher then as Dean of Students before becoming Assistant Principal in 2016. He was the Varsity Wrestling Coach from 2011 to 2013. He has two Masters Degrees in education, one in curriculum and instruction, the other in administration and supervision.
According to Superintendent Debbi Burdick, current CSHS health teacher and coach Tandehl Collentine-Mclean will become a teacher on assignment and handle the Operations and Athletics previously shouldered by Swetter.
