The offseason is just about over for the Arizona Diamondbacks. According to the organization’s website, pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report and workout on February 14, with the rest of the players reporting on the 19th. The D-backs are scheduled to play the Arizona State Sun Devils on February 21 at Salt River Fields.
The Diamondbacks earned the top National League Wild Card spot in 2017. “We’re focused on being the best that we can be in 2018,” D-backs GM Mike Hazen said during the Winter Meetings in December. All-Star first baseman Paul Goldschmidt will be returning, along with outfielder A.J. Pollock and left-hander Patrick Corbin. They also signed veteran catcher Alex Avila to a two-year contract. “I think [the payroll is] another reflection of the support we get from ownership and the desire to win and add players of a quality like Alex,” Hazen said following Avila’s signing last week. “It’s something we’re very appreciative of.”
Single-game tickets for spring training games in Arizona went on sale in early December. Although ticket prices are variable based upon team, stadium, day of week and time of day, they typically range anywhere from $8 for lawn seats to more than $80. Fans can visit their favorite MLB team’s website to purchase tickets for any of their upcoming spring training games.
