PHOENIX — The Arizona Diamondbacks will host a special 1st of July game this Saturday, highlighted by a State Forty Eight Patriotic T-shirt giveaway, Fireworks Spectacular and holiday-themed food items. The first 20,000 fans will receive a Patriotic T-shirt, courtesy of State Forty Eight, and enjoy a 7:10 p.m. matchup against National League West opponent Colorado Rockies in the comfort of air-conditioned Chase Field. After the game, fans will be treated to a Fireworks Spectacular, presented by Gila River Casinos.
Due to the recent heat warnings, fans are encouraged to take extra measures and bring their own water to the game in preparation for potentially long lines at the gates before entering the ballpark. The D-backs will have medical staff present, in addition to water stations and cooler fans at various locations along the Plaza.
The D-backs will offer an All-American Churro Dog, which will be available exclusively on the 1st of July. Prior to the game, the D-backs, Chase and Building Homes for Heroes will present Army Specialist and Purple Heart Recipient Alexis Jacquez Gamez with the keys to a newly remodeled mortgage-free home in Sun City during a special recognition on the field. In addition, Major Dan Rooney, founder of Folds of Honor, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch and proceeds from the D-backs 50-50 Raffle that night will benefit Folds of Honor. Folds of Honor provides educational support to spouses and children of fallen and/or disabled service members.
The D-backs will host Military Appreciation Day on Sunday, July 2 and will honor all military active duty, reserve, retired and veterans from past, present and future. As part of Military Appreciation Day, the D-backs will recognize veterans who represent the past; Fry’s Food Stores and the USO will treat more than 200 military members and their families from Fort Huachuca to represent the present as part of Fry’s Diamond Days; and the future will be represented by a U.S. Army Oath of Enlistment ceremony of 50 soldiers on the field prior to the game.
D-backs players and on-field personnel will wear specially-designed Stars & Stripes uniforms and caps on Saturday and Sunday. The game-worn gear will be available for purchase at D-backs Authentics (section 134) beginning July 7, with net proceeds benefitting the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation.
