TUCSON. – This year’s Law Enforcement Torch Run for Arizona Special Olympics kicked off today for Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents.
The statewide Law Enforcement Torch Run, which began April 30 and runs through May 4, raises awareness and funds for the Special Olympic Games being held this weekend at Raymond S. Kellis High School (8990 W. Orangewood) in Glendale, Arizona.
Law enforcement agencies throughout the state participate in different segments of a long journey to pass the “Flame of Hope” torch along its journey to the Special Olympics opening ceremony set for May 5.
This year, Tucson Sector Border Patrol’s segment started in Vail and headed west for six miles to Tucson, along Mary Ann Cleveland Road. Runners from multiple Tucson Sector stations ran with children from various backgrounds while others cheered them on.
