TEMPE – Nearly 650 Arizona State University student veterans slated to graduate this semester will be honored in a ceremony held for the first time in Grady Gammage Auditorium here Saturday at 10 a.m.
Event organizers expect a record-breaking number of guests to celebrate with the more than 215 student veterans registered to attend the ASU Veteran’s Stole Ceremony for the Spring 2017 semester. The first ASU ceremony to honor veterans started in 2011 with only 10 students.
Tempe councilmember and Army veteran Robin Arredondo-Savage will keynote the event and be on hand as each student receives their stole emblazoned with the branch of military service in which they served. The stoles may be worn over academic regalia during graduation ceremonies.
