Richard “Dick” Alvin Koessler

obituary

Richard “Dick” Alvin Koessler, 87, of Cave Creek, AZ passed away peacefully November 29, 2016, at Hospice of the Valley Eckstein Center in Scottsdale.

He was born on July 18, 1929 in Chicago, IL to Alvin and Corine (Fetterer) Koessler. He married Rosemary Ann Abernathy on January 8, 1955 in Evanston, IL. They were married for 59 years before she passed away.

Dick spent 20 years in construction, created his company Koessler Const. Co. building custom homes in Northbrook & the northern Suburbs of Chicago, IL. Dick and his wife were great partners both in business and their personal life. While living in IL they loved to go out dancing, and enjoyed boating, dining, hockey games, traveling and taking family vacations.

In 1975 he moved back to AZ and earned his real estate broker’s license. This led to an opportunity to purchase a real estate company that became known as Koessler & Associates in Carefree. He joined the board of directors of the local Chamber of Commerce, and later became President. Dick was a real people person making friends everywhere he went.

After retiring from real estate he and his wife became involved with a charity program known as “Cassettes for Vets” at the AZ State Veterans Home in Phoenix. During the holidays of Halloween and Christmas, he took great pride in his decorations and lighting displays. Above all his favorite highlight of the week was attending “The Casa”, always arriving early, fellowshipping before and after service. Dick truly lived life to the fullest, and often shared how God was blessing him abundantly with good friends and neighbors from church and his local community.

Dick is survived by his three son’s John, Tom and James, his grandchildren, and his great grandchildren.

A Celebrations-of-Life service will be held for family, friends, and others whose lives were touched by Dick on Wednesday December 28th, 2016 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Angels at the Franciscan Renewal Center, 5802 E. Lincoln Drive, Paradise Valley, AZ. Reception to follow afterwards. In lieu of flowers please send donations to The American Heart Association.
