To Town of Cave Creek:
The recent addition of bicycle lanes has caused the intersection of Cave Creek Rd. and N. Galloway Dr. to become a danger to the health, safety and welfare of Cave Creek and Carefree citizens.
Below is an aerial photo of the aforementioned intersection prior to the installation of the bicycle lanes.
Southbound traffic on N. Galloway Dr. turning east on Cave Creek Road have lost the “protected turn” or safety area in the center. With increasing tourist traffic, vehicles turning east on C.C. Road have been nearly clipped by both east and westbound traffic. The median needs to be widened (pre-bike lane) to create a “safety” pull-out area in the center for local traffic. This needs to be addressed very soon before someone is killed or injured creating an unneeded liability for the town.
I have spoken with several Cave Creek and Carefree residents that use this road regularly (including customers of Stagecoach Village) and they are in agreement. If necessary we will begin a petition drive to restore safe driving conditions. Please advise.
