ANTHEM, Ariz. –ProMusica Arizona Chorale and Orchestra (PMAZ) is pleased to announce that it has received a Community Investment Grant of $5,000 from the Arizona Commission on the Arts, the state arts agency. Arts Commission grants are awarded through a competitive public panel process. This grant signifies that PMAZ provides programs of high artistic quality, serves the needs of the community, and demonstrates administrative and fiscal accountability. The grant will help support PMAZ’s 2016-17 concert season.
PMAZ Immediate Past Board Chair, Lissi Weiss comments, “We appreciate receiving this generous grant from the Arizona Commission on the Arts. It enables us to bring high quality music to audiences across the North Valley, especially children. We are committed to introducing children to live choral and orchestral music, and this grant helps fund our Free Tickets for Children 15 and under Program. We are thrilled that due to the generosity of the Arizona Commission on the Arts, our vision of a future filled with joyous and beautiful music in our community is becoming a reality!”
PMAZ’s mission is to enrich lives in the Greater Phoenix area through innovative joint performances of its multigenerational Chorale and Orchestra. With about 100 singers and instrumentalists, PMAZ concerts are primarily held in the North Valley area, but the group also has appeared in major venues in Phoenix and Scottsdale.
In addition to the regular concert schedule, PMAZ singers and instrumentalists perform at a number of community outreach events each year including the Anthem Veterans Memorial Day and Veterans Day Ceremonies, informal music at local retirement homes, and fundraisers for organizations such as Family Promise.
ProMusica Arizona Chorale and Orchestra will begin its 14th season consisting of an eclectic mix of music and multi-sensory experiences that promise to engage and entertain audiences beginning in the fall. Information about the 2016-17 season of concerts is available online at www.pmaz.org.
