SCOTTSDALE – FCF-HCC is offering diverse and innovative community Programs and Events for the season (September, 2016 – May, 2017). All events take place at the Holland Community Center, 34250 N 60th Street, Building B, Scottsdale AZ 85266. Most programs charge a fee with some discounted with pre-purchase of an entire series. T.G.I.F. Tasters Club meets one Friday a month from 3 – 5 p.m. with an aficionado to learn about their craft and product and then savor the taste of what they bring to the table. From olive oil to wine and coffee to chocolate, this event is for the both curious samplers and connoisseurs. Costs: $20 for Sampler (per event price except Oct. 21 is $30). $150 for Complete Connoisseur Pass (20% discount). Visual Arts Exploration Series is offered January 16—February 20, 2017. Local experts, educators and artists present topics from Architecture to Selfies. Visual arts presentations are packed into the newly expanded 2017 series with seven consecutive Monday’s from 3:30 – 5 p.m. Wine and cheese reception begins at 3:30 p.m. with one-hour presentations starting at 4 p.m. Cost: $12 per program. $72 for the Series (includes one complimentary program). International Film Festival at the Holland Community Center. Gary Zaro, Director of “The Film Festival at PVCC” main campus, brings the Festival’s international Mystery and Suspense Thrillers films to the Holland Community Center September 2016 – May 2017 (no December film). One Friday each month (dates vary) from 2 – 4:30 p.m., Gary will introduce each film and lead a post-film discussion. Enjoy special food treats representing each film’s culture! Cost: $15 per film; or $100 for a 2016-17 Film Festival Pass (20% discount) for all 8 films. Sept. 9, Oct. 14, Nov. 11, Jan. 13, Feb. 3, Mar. 10, Apr. 14, and May 12.
Morning Joe with TED. Explore a topic through the TED medium. What’s TED? Short videos (under 20 minutes) of speakers talking about ‘ideas worth spreading’ every 1st Tuesday of the month (Oct – April, except January) from 8:30 – 10:30 a.m. Our host will facilitate open discussion after each video. General topics selected for the program include Science, Nature, Digital Media, Future and Language. Cost: $2 per person, per event. Oct. 4, Nov. 1, Dec. 6, Feb. 7, Mar. 7, and Apr. 4.
Weekly Bingo. Every Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the Holland Community Center. Open to the public with cards starting at $13. New theme days added one Thursday a month. Raffle prizes and $375 paid out weekly. Cards go on sale at 1 p.m. Visit ww.azfcf.org for more information.
