Phoenix – For a limited time, Secretary of State Michele Reagan has relaunched the WWII Memorial paver program where individuals or businesses may purchase a commemorative brick to honor the courage and sacrifice of those who fought for freedom around the globe during WWII. From July 4th, to September 2nd, (the 71st Anniversary of the end of the WWII) people can engrave a paver to be installed this later this fall.
Created in 2013, the WWII Memorial in Phoenix includes a steel structure containing the names of nearly 2000 Arizonans who died during the war flanked by historic gun barrels from the USS Arizona and USS
Missouri symbolically representing the beginning and end of the war. Commemorative pavers are positioned along the walkways throughout the memorial.
Since I became Secretary of State, we’ve received several requests from people who would like to purchase a commemorative paver to be included as a part of the WWII Memorial in Wesley Bolin Plaza,” said Secretary Reagan. “The memorial is a wonderful tribute to the men and women of our military and these bricks are a great opportunity for people to recognize their service.”
Two sizes of memorial pavers are available. With a tax-deductible contribution of $125 or $500, participants may engrave up to three or six lines of text on either 4”x8” or 8”x8” bricks. The deadline to purchase a paver is September 2, the 71st anniversary of Japanese surrender aboard the USS Missouri marking the end of WWII.
