PHOENIX—The Governor’s Office of Youth, Faith and Family in partnership with the Commission on Service and Volunteerism is pleased to announce that nominations for Arizona’s top honor in volunteerism are now being accepted. This proud tradition of volunteerism was first recognized by the Office of the Governor in 2001.
Nominations of local honorees will be accepted through July 15, 2016, with the award recipient announcement made in November. A statewide panel of judges will recommend the award recipients in the following categories: Lifetime Community Service, Service to Others, Inspired Youth Leadership, and Stewardship.
The awards are presented each year to recognize Arizona citizens who are already making a positive difference in their towns and neighborhoods. Over the past 14 years, more than 100 Arizonans have been officially recognized for their volunteer efforts. These individuals and groups were champions in their communities and demonstrated extraordinary efforts to improve the world around them.
Arizona has a long and proud tradition of volunteer service. The governor’s Volunteer Service Awards recognizes and honors volunteers who promotes a sustained commitment to civic participation and inspires others to improve their communities and strengthen quality of life for Arizonans.
