Law Enforcement support for Sheriff Joe Arpaio continues

Detention Officers and Deputy Sheriffs back Arpaio for another term

PHOENIX – Political support from Arizona law enforcement associations continues to grow for Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s campaign for a seventh term. Today the campaign announced that the Arizona Association of Detention Officers (AZDO) has endorsed Sheriff Arpaio.

This endorsement adds to a growing list of major law enforcement organizations which have already publicly endorsed the Sheriff. So far, these groups include the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association (PLEA), the Arizona Police Association (APA), and the Sheriff’s Office Deputies Law Enforcement Association (DLEA).

In their letter to Sheriff Arpaio announcing their endorsement, AZDO President Arlington Hernandez stated, “[T]he Arizona Association of Detention Officers is pleased to announce our endorsement of your bid for re-election as Sheriff for Maricopa County, Arizona.”

He continued, “We enthusiastically support you and wholeheartedly value your support of law enforcement. We are grateful and wish to thank you for your dedication to our profession, citizens of Maricopa County and the residents of the Great State of Arizona.”

Sheriff Arpaio responded to the endorsement: “Having the support of detention officers and deputy sheriffs around the state, especially those who work for the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, and so many other law enforcement agencies is truly humbling. It is an honor to work with these fine men and women who sacrifice so much and risk their lives every day to keep our communities safe. I’m grateful for their support and will always stand up for our officers.”

Sheriff Joe Arpaio is running for his seventh four-year term as Maricopa County Sheriff.
