Rep. Salmon applauds passage of Iran Terror Finance Transparency Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Rep. Matt Salmon (AZ-05) released the following statement upon House passage of H.R. 3662, the Iran Terror Finance Transparency Act.

“After America was fleeced by negotiations with Iran, Members of Congress warned the President that the Iranian regime was not to be trusted.  Not to be deterred by facts, he pushed forward and ultimately signed a terrible deal with an untrustworthy regime.  Since the signing of the deal just a few short months ago,  Iran has test-launched inter-continental missiles (capable of carrying nuclear payloads), fired warning shots at U.S. Naval ships in international waters, and, just yesterday, captured and held American sailors and vessels.  Now it is anticipated that the Administration will move this week to release billions in hard currency to the Iranian regime. “This bill would provide Congress greater oversight over the President’s ability to lift sanctions on entities doing businesses with Iran to the benefit of their ballistic missile program, and force the Administration to take responsibility for their actions by mandating certifications be made by? Congress before sanctions are lifted.  They’re small changes, but exactly what we need to rein in an executive intent on ignoring the will of the American people.”
